Online Classes at ELC/ CFAL

_
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we were forced to move away from our regular brick-and-mortar learning systems to an online learning model. This unplanned shift to a setup that largely involved digital teaching and learning was not easy, but in keeping with the philosophy at The Learning Centre, we did it with great determination and grit!
Over the years, CFAL has created a unique niche for itself in the field of training aspirants taking competitive exams like JEE (Main & Adv.), NEET, KVPY, NTSE, Olympiads etc. and has been instrumental in enabling students from the region to reach the top 10 colleges of the country and abroad. With online classes, we took a huge leap - thanks to the flexibility, the outstanding faculty members and the extensive online curriculum, we now cater to students not only from D.K. and surrounding areas, but from the Middle East, Bangalore and many South Indian states.

How do we do it?

Our live classes follow the same pedagogy of high quality teaching as our coveted classroom programs. Our courses aim to bridge the gap and provide the best learning program for students, irrespective of their geographical location. Live interactive classes are conducted by teachers and comprehensive study content is prepared in the form of videos to explain a concept. Live classes by some of the veterans in the field, recorded lectures, extensive study material, online periodic mock tests, doubt clearing sessions, virtual mentorship apart from innovative and rigorous practices turn things around for us.

What’s different?

Our classes happen over Zoom, wherein students meet their teachers for a minimum of 6 hrs in a week, whereas Grade 11-12 students meet them for 12 hours a week. 25% of our sessions focus on explaining a concept (by the facilitator) and 75% of the learning happens through group discussions, problem solving and practicing. Besides, every student has access to pre-recorded classes recorded by senior professors – to help them in case they are unable to attend. Our chapter-wise tests (for foundation students) are at par with the Olympiad tests, helping students prepare for competitive exams in the future.
Our chapter-wise tests for PUC is focused towards NEET/JEE and KVPY and the quarterly major tests emphasises on revising previously completed concepts. Our in house LMS system provides detailed report on each test, difficulty vs time spent charts for each question and appropriate statistics to truly master a topic.
Another prominent feature of our program is the 1v1 mentoring sessions, wherein mentors guide and motivate students by advising/planning their study routine, study patterns etc. Our mentors’ help students plan their short and long term goals, and implement proper processes to support them focus on their goals.

  • 6 of our Grade 10 students who attended online classes have cleared NTSE Stage 1.
  • Most of the II PUC classes for 2020-2021 were online and more than 35% students have scored 97 percentile or above in JEE Mains, whereas the national average is under 3 percentiles.
  • In NEET, we have 25% students scoring above 500 marks.
  • We have 10 KVPY scholars for 2020-21.
