An Answer to Early Childhood Education in Mangalore

Early Learning Centre was founded in Mangalore with a conviction that the standard model of Early childhood education in Mangalore – competitive, rank-driven, instruction-heavy and rote-based – was missing critical elements of childhood and cultivating memorization more than understanding. It was prioritizing an exhausting race to success without asking important questions.

  • What is success? Is it simply academic and monetary while leaving out all other aspects of personal and social development?
  • What does a child need? We often want what is best for our children, but have we objectively considered what our child needs instead of allowing social pressures to shape this idea?
  • Can we achieve academic excellence without compromising on human values? Will our children be human beings who are equal parts brilliant and kind?
  • ELC was conceived and carefully built into a considered, evidence-based, philosophically serious answer to these questions. As one of our teachers puts it: "It aligns with families who are open to scientific thought, enquiry, questioning, and change based on what is relevant to the time and the child's needs. It is all about the child."
  • We are affiliated with Cambridge International and operate across four stages: Playgroup–Pre-K, LKG–UKG, Primary (Grades 1–5), and Middle School (Grades 6–8). Our staff are trained in the Montessori method and grounded in the school's philosophical orientation.
  • ELC is also part of a wider ecosystem of institutions, CFAL (Centre for Advanced Learning) and TLC (The Learning Centre), that share the same foundational philosophies. Students who complete their journey at ELC are prepared to continue on their path to self-development, excellence and contributing positively to the betterment of society.
