ELC Community
Be the Change Programme
Our outreach programme helps create volunteer support for various library and learning initiatives through special events and other activities aimed at enhancing Government schools and public libraries. We endeavour to empower our local community through a range of initiatives that require education and specialised training. At The Learning Centre, we have found that students benefit greatly—both academically and emotionally—from volunteering their time to make their community and the world a better place. This is why our students begin volunteering from a young age. Through community service projects, students develop real-world skills that help prepare them for success in middle school, high school, and beyond.
Wisdom Centre
Our Parent Association is a vital component of our vibrant and supportive community and we encourage them to be active partners in their child’s learning. The participation of parents in education gives an immeasurable boost to children in their learning process. Relationships in the community also play an important role in children’s education. They present unique knowledge in various cultures, special talents, inter-generational relationships and a sense of belonging to a larger group - a connection to all of humanity.
Our wisdom centre provides a positive and welcoming environment for all parents, guardians and the extended community – it works in partnership with faculty, staff, and administrators to support the goals, needs and vision of The Learning Centre. In addition to various courses that enable better understanding of the self, it also involves developing empathy for others. Our wisdom centre offers educational and social events ranging from book clubs and programs on parenting, issues like diversity, equity and inclusion; and social challenges students face in the world today. Besides this, we have various volunteering programs and teaching/learning opportunities based on requests from the parent community.
