The Whole Child
Very little of what a childhood here amounts to fits on a timetable. It shows up in the books children pick for themselves, the festivals they help prepare, the trips they come back tired from, the experiment they insist on running one more time, and the adults who know them well enough to notice when something has shifted. What follows is a picture of the rest of it.
A Love for Reading
Reading at ELC begins long before a child can read independently. Book nooks and reading corners are a familiar part of every classroom, from Kindergarten to elementary, inviting children to settle in, get curious, and lose themselves in a story.
Each month, children explore a Book of the Month, thoughtfully chosen mostly from Indian publishing houses, stories rooted in everyday experiences, nature and gentle questions worth pondering, the kind that invite children to wonder rather than simply be told.
Even birthdays become an occasion for reading. Alongside cake and celebration, children mark the day by gifting books to their peers, a small tradition that turns a personal milestone into a shared love of stories.
Every week, children from Kindergarten to Grade 4 borrow four books from the library to take home, ensuring that reading remains a part of life well beyond the school day.
Outdoor Learning
The outdoors is an extension of everyday learning. Beyond experiences within the campus, children step into the wider world through meaningful field trips that bring learning to life.
Kindergarten children explore farms and their local community, while elementary students visit museums, beaches, farms and heritage spaces. Grades 5 and 6 experience a mix of day-long and overnight journeys that encourage curiosity, independence and connection.
These trips are not about destinations, but about experiences: meeting people, discovering stories, navigating new situations, and seeing the world with wonder. Each journey builds resilience and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Experiment-Led Learning
At ELC, understanding is never simply handed down, it is built. Children are encouraged to ask questions, form their own predictions and test their thinking through hands-on experiments, whether observing how a seed sprouts, testing which materials float, or exploring how light bends. Mistakes are not setbacks here; they are simply part of finding out. In this way, children learn that knowledge is not something to memorise, but something to discover for themselves, one curious question at a time.
Cultural Celebrations
Celebrations are an integral part of our school community. We look beyond the rituals and explore the deeper meaning behind each one, from nurturing friendships and expressing gratitude during harvest festivals, to embracing a child’s sense of playfulness, creativity and wonder. Through folk tales, music, dance, rhythms and traditions, children connect with the rich cultural heritage around them.
Children are not just spectators; they are an essential part of every celebration. They perform, create, participate and contribute, experiencing the joy of coming together as a community while building respect and appreciation for diverse traditions.
Literature and Heritage Festival
An annual celebration of ideas, stories and creativity, the Literature and Heritage Festival transforms ELC into a vibrant space where authors, musicians, storytellers, conversationalists and heritage enthusiasts come together. Art, literature and nature take centre stage through engaging workshops, inspiring talks, performances and immersive experiences led by voices from across India.
The festival offers children an opportunity to meet people who bring unique perspectives, stories and knowledge, opening their minds to ideas that inspire curiosity, reflection and meaningful conversation.

Our teachers are trained in the Montessori approach through the elementary years, giving them a deep understanding of how children learn, grow and develop. CFAL & TLC.
Students completing Grade 6 at ELC move toward CFAL (Centre for Advanced Learning), our institutions that continue the same philosophical tradition through the secondary and senior secondary years. ELC does not simply prepare children for the next examination but creates strong roots in STEM that allows them to reach academic excellence with their curiosity for learning still intact.
